factors effecting erythropoiesis

VITAMIN

did you ever remember the day when we are being forced and asked forcefully by our parents to eat lots lots and lots of vitamins during our childhood?

i mean this vitamin for example ⬇

I bet yall only think that vitamin are only good for our skin and our immune system

but now let me tell you that

It also help in ERYTHROPOEISIS !!! Ok dont be confused because im gonna explain about that right now . Heres are some examples of vitamins that play role in erythtropoiesis.

Cyanocobalamin

Dont be afraid with the name, it might sound so terrifying (because it sounds so chemical) but actually they are called Vitamin B12

Example of food that contain vitamin B12 are eggs, milk, cheese, meat and poultry. Vitamin B12 is stored mostly in liver and in small quantity of muscle. However, when it is necessary, it will be transported to the bone marrow to promote the maturation of red blood cell.

Besides, the vitamin B12 also helps in erythtropoiesis as it is essential for formation of thymidine trihosphate and for synthesis of DNA in the red blood cell. However, it deficiency may lead to failure in maturation of cell and reduction in cell division.

Vitamin C

yes we all know that fruits are the example of vitamin c but before we start, let me ask you a simple riddle about fruits.

what is the fruit named by a tree and different fruit ? *keep reading this blog to know the answer

ok back to how vitamin c effect erythropoiesis. In this matter, vitamin C helps in the absorption of iron  besides vitamin c is also needed to reduce ferric to ferrous form.

Its less terrifying this time right because i accidentally choose this picture (bet yall see that picture first rather than the title right)

Milk, cheese, liver, vegetable leaf, legumes, mushrooms, and almonds are the examples of food that contain this vitamin. In erythropoiesis, vitamin B2 helps in heme formation and it also associate in the cell growth and division.

before we proceed, let me tell you the answer for the previous riddle. the answer is PINEAPPLE.PINE= tree and APPLE= different fruit. if you got the correct answer, give yourself around of applause !!!!

MINERALS

The minerals like iron and copper and pivotal in making healthy red blood cells.

Iron

Food such as legumes, grains, egg yolk and meat are rich in iron .

Iron makes up the part of heme. The iron molecule in each heme group directly bind and carries oxygen. If you don't eat enough iron, you cannot produce enough heme to make functional red blood cells.

Copper

You also need copper to make heme.It helps to make sure that cells have access to the chemical form of iron needed for the red blood cells as they responsible in iron transfer from the storage site which are the bone marrow, liver and spleen.

Cobalt

Cobalt can be found in food such as the organ, meat, poultry and oil. They are also important minerals as they are a part of vitamin B12.

PROTEINS

Uptake of protein is also affect erythtropoiesis. For example, adequate protein diet will cause more formation of globin. Thus this will increase the production of red blood cell.

So we need to consume more protein from food like poultry, milk, meat and eggs to increase production of red blood cell.

HORMONES

there are several hormone that affect erythtropoiesis:

  • Testosterone
  • Growth Hormone
  • Thyroid hormone
  • Cortisol
  • Adrenocorticotrophic hormone (ACTH)

This is because this hormones increase the rate of metabolism of body thus it also will increase the production of red blood cell in the body

OTHER CONDITION

Have you guys ever be in the situation where youre face become red or blushed. we all have experience that right. well dont be afraid, it actually means that our body are producing more red blood cell at that very moment. There are several other condition that can affect erythtropoiesis.

For example, when we are doing physical activities, our face will automatically become red because our body produce more red blood cell to enable efficient oxygen supply to whole parts of the body.
